Tomohiro Hansho / Hansho Farm (Organic vegetable provider) 2025.12.25

Mr.Hanjo’s words, heard in the fields, draw humans to the perspective of vegetables and insects. “Insects always attach to weak vegetables, returning their weakened life to the soil. They don’t attach to plants with strong vitality.”
This is the cycle of life that Mr.Hanjo experiences firsthand in the fields. Even leaves that appear dead at first glance have a fragrance. As long as the roots are still alive, herbs will grow again in the spring. The “nora” in norabouna comes from the Japanese word for stray dog. Wild herbs are sweeter, as they store sugar to withstand the temperature changes. The fields are overflowing with the vitality of plants.
He wants to spread the joy of eating and the process of vegetable growth. With this in mind, Hanjo Farm was opened nine years ago. He regularly holds food and agricultural experience events in the fields and at schools. His organic farming, where you can see the faces and philosophy of the farmers, has many regular customers from urban areas.
After entering the fields, his clothes are covered in insects. “It’s a survival strategy for plants, after all.”
They desperately try to spread their seeds far and wide by attaching themselves to humans and animals. Hearing this, the seeds that don’t fall easily start to look brave, and it’s a wonderful time spent in the fields.
