Stories woven with community heritage The Ōme line runs through the heart of satoyama, the boundary where mountain meets village. Here, people and nature have coexisted for centuries, adapting to the seasons through rain and shine.Welcome to Satologue, a unique retreat that connects the cultural and culinary traditions of communities alongside the Ome line. Combining “sato” (village) and “-logue” (dialogue), Satologue invites you to step into a living story, woven together with the local community. One that offers a sense of homecoming, in a place that feels like a return to somewhere you’ve always belonged.

About Satologue Ōme Satologue Ōme is based in an area that was once part of a thriving forestry center. In the Edo period, the Tama River carried commerce between mountain villages and towns. When the Showa era began, the Ōme railway line traced this same path, connecting communities that had developed alongside water and forest. For generations, people from these Okutama mountain villages harvested timber, building rafts to float logs downriver to Tokyo. This forestry tradition shaped both the way of life and the region's rich biodiversity. Today, this rural heritage remains visible in the land and in the traditional practices of the community. Satologue Ōme is a part of this continuing story, finding our place alongside the rhythms of village life that carry on today. We're supported by local residents, and our respect for local traditions and thoughtful approach to village life helps preserve the tranquil atmosphere you'll find here. We invite you to come ready to listen, to understand this place and settle into its gentle pace, so that you might experience this region not as visitors passing through, but as welcome neighbors, part of the living landscape itself.
