Yashiki Gami（House God）

The house god is enshrined in a small shrine standing in one corner of the property. When viewed from the stream behind, the shrine is located on a steep cliff with rugged rock surfaces. Below the house god is a huge block of stone. It is so large that if it were to collapse, the entire land would collapse. There must have been some meaning behind the people of the past placing the shrine here. The shrine is small and by no means showy, but when you get close you can sense a certain solemn air.
The photo was taken before the garden was renovated. Two old and dented daruma dolls stood as if protecting the house god.
